We invite you to join us on a leisurely autumn walk around the village of Kamenice with influencer Michaela Lovrantov\u00e1, whom you may recognise from social media under the name On a hike with Ry\u0161ava<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rock formations and views of Chergov<\/a> as well as the ruins of a medieval castle. It\u2019s not about performance or breaking records. We\u2019ll walk at our own pace, taking breaks and keeping our spirits high.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meeting point and start<\/strong>:
We\u2019ll meet in\u00a08.00 am at All Saints\u2019 Church<\/strong>\u00a0in the centre of the village of Kamenica. From there, we\u2019ll set off along the blue hiking trail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sleeping Monk<\/a><\/strong>
The first stop will be the Sleeping Monk, a rock formation named after its shape. It\u2019s the perfect spot for a first break and a group photo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sokolia Valley and Sokolova Rock<\/strong>
From the Sleeping Monk, we descend into the Sokol Valley and continue on to Sokol Rock. This rock towers above the valley and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and the ridges of \u010cergov. In autumn, when the mixed forests \u2013 dominated by beech, maple, hornbeam, oak and birch \u2013 turn shades of yellow and orange, the view from here is truly exceptional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kamenick\u00fd Castle<\/a><\/strong>
The destination of the hike will be the ruins of Kamenick\u00fd Castle. The castle stands on a limestone crag in the \u010cergov Mountains above the village. According to surviving documents, it was built in the first half of the 13th century by Dietrich, Count of the Spi\u0161 Saxons, and the area around the castle served as a royal hunting ground. It was once one of the thirteen largest castles in Slovakia. At the castle, we\u2019ll enjoy a final, relaxing break with views of the surrounding hills, villages and the undulating countryside below \u010cergov. Then we\u2019ll simply make our way down to the village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
