{"id":552,"date":"2026-06-26T14:03:11","date_gmt":"2026-06-26T12:03:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pohoriecergov.sk\/?post_type=poi&#038;p=552"},"modified":"2026-07-13T13:52:45","modified_gmt":"2026-07-13T11:52:45","slug":"krizova-cesta-na-sanci","status":"publish","type":"poi","link":"https:\/\/pohoriecergov.sk\/en\/poi\/krizova-cesta-na-sanci\/","title":{"rendered":"The Stations of the Cross at \u0160anca"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>\u0160anec<\/strong> is the name given to a section of a wooded hill <strong>the town of Sabinov<\/strong> and is situated right by the River Torysa. \u0160anec is mainly used for leisure activities and, due to its proximity to the town (with access directly from the main road), it is a popular destination in every season. You can walk along the ridge to Koh\u00fat in 2\u20133 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Good Friday in 1990, the Salesian youth organised the first Way of the Cross, during which a wooden birch cross was carried up to \u0160anec. This cross was later used as firewood. The idea of erecting a permanent cross made of durable solid wood at this site came from Mr Bartolomej Roko\u0161n\u00fd, then a member of the VPS. The final design and construction of the cross were carried out by the carpenter Alfonz Kuch\u00e1r. Along the path leading to the cross, there are wooden crosses.
