One of the most attractive castle ruins is situated above the village of Kamenica. Although only the remains of the walls and Renaissance fortifications are visible today, it remains a captivating site where the history of Kamenica Castle blends with the fascinating natural scenery of the \u010cergov Mountains. The castle lies on the western slopes of \u010cergov and was built in the 13th century on a high limestone cliff above the village of Kamenica. It probably served as a royal hunting lodge. At the beginning of the 16th century, it was rebuilt as a Renaissance fortress, but as early as 1558 it was conquered and demolished by the armies of Emperor Ferdinand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ruins of Kamenica Castle, with the remains of its walls and Renaissance fortifications, offer a lovely view of the surrounding countryside and the \u010cergov ridge. The annual Night of the Castle Ruins and the summer Castle Festivities have become popular events, featuring performances by historical fencing groups, fencing and archery groups, as well as pottery and basket-weaving demonstrations.
