{"id":634,"date":"2026-07-02T13:17:35","date_gmt":"2026-07-02T11:17:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pohoriecergov.sk\/?post_type=poi&#038;p=634"},"modified":"2026-07-13T13:44:50","modified_gmt":"2026-07-13T11:44:50","slug":"mauzoleum-alberta-bujanovicsa-v-uzovciach","status":"publish","type":"poi","link":"https:\/\/pohoriecergov.sk\/en\/poi\/mauzoleum-alberta-bujanovicsa-v-uzovciach\/","title":{"rendered":"The Albert Bujanovics Mausoleum in Uzovce"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a small village <strong>Uzovce<\/strong> In the \u0160ari\u0161 Highlands, you will find the unique mausoleum of the Bujanovics family, probably in the Classicist style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">From history<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The mausoleum was commissioned by J\u00falius Bujanovics (1862\u20131946), a landowner from \u0160ari\u0161 and an expert in agriculture, in memory of his son. His son was a skilled pilot who operated along what is now the Italian\u2013Slovenian border. According to military records held in the Vienna Military Archives, it is clear that Albert completed 37 operational flights and was involved in just one aerial engagement. He had received several military decorations. His fate was sealed during a training flight on 19 March 1918 over San Giustina airfield, when he crashed from a height of about 20 metres. First Lieutenant Bujanovics was killed instantly; the passenger sitting in the observer\u2019s seat, First Lieutenant Ambros St\u00f6ckl of the 92nd Infantry Regiment, suffered serious injuries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A memorial service<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A native of eastern Slovakia, he was not yet 23 years old. He was buried in a sarcophagus decorated with the family coat of arms, in two coffins in fact \u2013 one made of tin and the other of iron. The structure, measuring approximately five by five metres and six metres high, takes the form of a crypt; its fa\u00e7ade is smooth, and in the centre of the front is a longitudinal entrance with heavy iron doors. There are two small columns on either side of the entrance.
