The first written mention of the village Jakubová Voľa A document from 1315 states that in 1312, King Charles Robert of Anjou granted the nobleman Rikolf, amongst other things, a forest south of the village of Červenica, on the right bank of the Torysa, in recognition of his military service. Work soon began on building a village on the donated land. The village was named Jakubova Ves (Jacabfolua).
To the south of Jakubova Voľa lies a hill with a distinctive plateau, known locally as Hradisko. In the past, during the Great Moravian period, there was a fortified settlement there.
Today, a much-visited tree also attracts attention in the village. The tree, which is tended by local residents, is known as "The Tree of Love"precisely according to the shape of the heart into which it grows.".
Its colours are breathtaking throughout the year, but it is most popular in spring, when it is in bloom.
