The Čergov Educational and Recreational Trail is situated in the mountain range Chergov, in the holiday resort Drienica – Lysá, not far from the summit Lysá. This is a short, easy route designed primarily for families with children, tourists and visitors who wish to combine a day out in the countryside with a fun exploration of local stories.
Educational and entertaining features along the entire route
The footpath is approximately 1 kilometre long and winds through woodland. Visitors are accompanied along the route by the figure of Čergov the shepherd and his story. The trail features various playful and educational elements that introduce visitors to Čergov’s traditional symbols, such as a shepherd’s hut or a wolf’s den. This makes the trip particularly appealing to children, who can learn about nature through hands-on experiences.
The easiest way to reach the footpath is via the Drienica–Lysá chairlift, which offers lovely views even during the ascent. Fitter walkers can also choose to walk up the tarmac road, though this is more challenging. The trail itself is two-way – you can walk it from top to bottom from the chairlift station, or in the opposite direction, from the bottom up from Chata Šport towards the chairlift.
The Čergov Educational and Recreational Trail is ideal for a short family outing, a relaxing break in the countryside, or as a supplementary activity when visiting the Drienica–Lysá resort. With the use of the cable car, it is one of the easier routes, suitable even for less fit visitors.
